There will always be frigid forms to sell you warmth

So, I could not think of a better way to round out my coverage of SXSW (save a "the rest" post of the videos and pix that did not make the cut) than a little time with a truly amazing band, Milemarker. They charged through the DIY scene for almost ten years and through six albums before slowing to a hiatus after the release of their 2002 album Satanic Versus.

Fortunately the crater they left would soon be filled again as they went back into the studio to record the fantastic 2005 album Ominosity. Following it with a tour, they proved once again that no one can blow a crowd away like Milemarker. Even still, the world would not hear from them again for another two years. Now, though taking things at an easier pace, the powerhouse is back again, with a new lineup including such notable names as Ben Davis.

Al Burian, the prime mover of the group, as well as the author of the zine "Burn Collector," was kind enough to take a few minutes to talk to me. Beyond that, there's a great video of the opening of their set at SX. It's worth your time to keep up with the band on their myspace profile, which is the best source of information about Milemarker right now.
